I LOVE AN ADVENTURE, and the wonderful world of DIY provides plenty of opportunities for one. I never know what kind of trea sure I may find while digging through salvage yards or perusing flea markets, but certainly, the thrill of the hunt is part of the fun. The discovery typically leads to a different kind of adventure—cleaning, fixing, repurposing, and refinishing, which, in turn, leads to implementing or installing in a design plan. As I consider how many ups and downs we had trying to pull the projects in this issue together, I can’t help but laugh. Floral Fun Maybe it has a stain, is too short, or doesn’t fit anymore, but you just can’t bear to throw away that skirt stuffed in the back of your closet. Make it useful again by turning it into a chic bib apron. See page 109 for detailed instructions. Handy Towel Keep a towel close for quick cleanup. Sew a button onto the waistband of your apron where you can easily reach it while wearing the apron. Sew a loop of ribbon to the corner of a small towel. Loop the ribbon over the button. MATERIALS • Teapot—any size or color • White craft glue • 20x20-inch piece of cotton print • Waterproof matte varnish • Potting mix • Potted plant 1. Clean the teapot and remove the lid. Cut some of your fabric into a few small strips around 2 inches wide and 4 inches long. In a plastic cup, mix your white craft glue: one part glue to one part water. 2. Beginning with the spout and handle, paint the glue directly onto the teapot, then onto the fabric strips. Wrap your fabric carefully around the teapot, trimming any excess pieces as you proceed. 3. MATERIALS • Glue • Small bowl, for glue • 1-inch paintbrush • Glass vases • Large bowl, for catching glitter • Gold glitter Aluminum foil or plastic wrap (optional) Krylon Glitter Blast, Michaels 1. Pour your glue into a small bowl for easy access 2. Paint a 1- to 2-inch strip of glue around the top, center, or bottom of your vase, varying the placement from vase to vase. 3.
