Paper & Clay owner Brit McDaniel took her first ceramics class as an elective at the University of Memphis, and she was smitten from the outset. “I loved the process of starting with nothing and ending with a finished piece,” Brit says. “It really tapped into my love for total control.” She started thinking about shaping a brand and future business while still a student. While I’m not a book reader, I love reading magazines, especially Southern Lady. It’s one of my favorite magazines. I read it cover to cover, from the editor’s detailed introduction to the treasured recipes. The May/June issue was as beautiful as expected.
