Since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute (PCI) has been selecting a Colour of the Year to express, in colour, the global zeitgeist – a reflection of the mood of the time. Not limited to any industry, it can be found across a number of areas of design.
Last year’s Pantone Colour of the Year was Radiant Orchid, with Emerald Green the year before; this year we were surprised with Marsala.
Executive director of PCI, Leatrice Eiseman, highlights: “Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.
