When a relationship gets out of its honeymoon period, and as the pressures of life kick in, spontaneous sex is no more a reality – it happens only in Hollywood movies.
And then, other factors such as age, partner’s health, natural libido and, above all, the quality of a couple’s overall relationship that can come in the way, explains Sam Roberts, Director & Principal Clinical Counsellor, Olive Branch Counselling Services. “When sex is lacking in a relationship, the couple are highly vulnerable to a lot of emotional disturbances such as frustrations, anger, detachment, infidelity, separation and ultimately divorce,” he says.
So even though love-making should be a natural process, it is important that couples make a conscious effort to schedule time for sex.
