Lamborghini didn’t starting from scratch when it started conceptualising the Urus. It had references to look at—two to be exact. One was its first SUV prototype, an off-road military vehicle called Cheetah that it unveiled at the 1977 Geneva Auto Show in hopes of securing an order with the US Army. The car sported a rear-mounted 5.9L Chrysler 360 V8 engine that produced 183hp, but failed to seal the deal. WHAT IS THE USE OF THE most accurate and precise horological complication if you cannot read the information off the watch dial in pitch darkness? This is a conundrum faced by many watch brands, even the most storied ones. But it is no longer an issue with the A Lange & Söhne Datograph Up/Down “Lumen”, which made its world premiere in October. The Community Foundation of Singapore (CFS) was founded during a tumultuous time. Chairman Laurence Lien recalled that it was during the global financial crisis of 2008—hardly good news for a non-profit organisation that was set up to encourage and enable philanthropy in Singapore. But now, 10 years later, 113 charitable funds have been established with CFS, which has raised more than $100m and disbursed around $60m to over 400 charitable organisations in Singapore, said CEO Catherine Loh at its 10th anniversary celebrations at The Arts House in September. It was a sight to behold—diplomats serenading their close friend, Peter Low, with a medley of classics at his 70th birthday celebration in September. Held at the Grand Ballroom of the Conrad Centennial Singapore, the joyous occasion was attended by about 160 guests, which included family and close friends of the founder of consultancy firm Edward de Bono Training.
