WATCHMAKING PRODIGY
Drawn to the intricacies and inner workings of a movement while observing a watchmaker-restorer for the first time, Christophe Claret, then 14, knew he was destined to be a watchmaker. He enrolled at the Geneva Watchmaking School and, after graduating, furthered his knowledge under the tutelage of master watchmaker Roger Dubuis. In 1987, he attracted the attention of Ulysse Nardin founder Rolf Schnyder, who commissioned him to produce minute repeaters. Two years later, he founded the Claret manufacture in La Chauxde-Fonds, where he produces calibres for other brands and, increasingly, complications that carry his own name.
