“What a ploy to get us here,” I whispered to Jennifer Choo, regional managing editor of Tatler Homes. We were at Issey Miyake’s flagship Milan boutique, the last stop in our six-day Milan Design Week pilgrimage, which averaged 25,000 steps a day exploring the city’s myriad design happenings. The brand’s showcase, titled Fold and Crease, featured two sheets of foam stuck with countless wooden skewers, their tips dipped in purple, yellow and red, draped over a simple wooden structure; the rest of the showcase consisted of smaller study models of this.
