As always, the biennale Euroluce showcase was a hotly anticipated affair, and this year’s edition did not disappoint. In fact, judging by the surfeit of creative, awe-inspiring designs, it was even more satisfying than the furniture offerings at the Salone del Mobile itself.
While the furnishing industry seemed to have adopted a cautious approach in light of the ongoing economic gloom, the lighting trade appeared to have thrown caution to the wind, with wildly emotive creations that proffered wit, humour, beauty and technology all at once.
This is all thanks to the rapid evolution of LED technology, which has, in the past few years, rendered many practical and dimensional justifications useless. When light sources can fit on the head of a pin, creativity is bounded only by imagination. And imagine…
