How to spot it and where to find it: You will easily spot common toadflax at this time of year, in open grassy places, on stony and waste ground, hedge banks, road verges, railway embankments and cultivated land. Its dense clusters of bright yellow and orange flowers first start to bloom in June and continue well into November. They resemble those of the snapdragon, with darker yellow to orange centres, carried in spikes above narrow, greyish-green leaves.
