How to spot it and where to find it: Growing in lawns, meadows, verges, hedgebanks and rough grassland, yarrow is a resilient perennial plant commonly found throughout Britain at this time of year. It has small, flat flowerheads made up of tiny, white flowers and its Latin name millefolium (“thousand-leaved”) refers to its finely divided, feathery-looking foliage.
Interesting facts: Yarrow is a corruption of the old English and Dutch names for this plant (gearwe and yerw respectively).
