Curlew have been added to the “red list” of threatened species, as the new State of the UK Birds 2016 report revealed that more than quarter of UK bird species are in need of urgent conservation efforts.
“When we work together with farmers, we can reverse declines, as we have before” The annual report is a summary of the latest bird surveys and monitoring studies, put together by government agencies Natural England, Natural Resources Wales, Scottish Natural Heritage, the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, along with the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT), the British Trust for Ornithology and the RSPB.
