Midway through September, fishing was not quite what it should have been for the time of year, so I introduced a small underwater video camera — so beloved by skater boys and skiers — to one of the bends to take a closer look. By coincidence I did the same thing, almost to the day, a year ago, after a similarly fallow period of fishing.
Last year’s film featured grayling of many different ages, minnows, stickleback, some large roach and, of course, brown trout, all of which were feeding hard on sub-surface offerings, and were in good condition. The grayling, in particular, were in fine form.
