Walked-up, rough, family, syndicate, commercial, DIY and walk one, stand one; these, and others, are all names given to the various types of game shooting. There are, though, cross-overs in description on occasion. Just one shoot can incorporate almost all elements – and syndicate members can be found at every level – but does any one category provide any better sport, or more fun than another?
At least two turn-of-last-century writers were somewhat disparaging regarding the sport offered by the walked-up shoot. In 1903, Horace G.
