Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities are the key player in the management of our inshore fisheries out ti six miles.
Many people don’t actually understand what they do, how they are constituted, who runs them and how they are funded.
They are becoming increasingly important to anglers, and in particular boat anglers, as more and more of our waters are designated as Marine Protected Areas, our fish stocks come under greater pressure and commercial fishing industry fights for its future.
The Vision
So, let’s start with the vision thing…. It is stated as follows: “Lead, champion and manage a sustainable marine environment and inshore fisheries, by successfully securing the right balance between social, environmental and economic benefits to ensure healthy seas, sustainable fisheries and viable industries.”
