“CAN WE CALL IT a reincarnation?” says architect extraordinaire Peter Marino of the legendary Dior flagship store in Paris, known as 30 Montaigne. After being closed to the public for two years, pilgrims to the site will now find that the single-level shop has been expanded to cover 10,000 square metres, more than double its previous size and volume. Now featuring a stunning museum, restaurant, café and three green spaces, a grand winding staircase has been added to connect the four storeys, with 13 meticulously themed spaces and 166 delicious couture creations on display. The theme of the makeover was, of course, ‘flowers’, with Peter taking inspiration from Mr Dior’s homes and gardens in Normandy and the south of France.
