BILLIE BUOY, ONE OF MELBOURNE’S coolest new eateries, has an interior that will take you back to the radical days of the 1980s. Created by Biasol Studio, the interiors and branding were developed in unison to reflect a fun, youthful and retro-cool vibe. “We were asked to create a feel-good space for the local community, serving up good coffee, healthy food and to bring back ’80s old-school vibes,” says interior designer Jean-Pierre Biasol. “We conceived Billie Buoy as a 1980s character who was radical, hip and a little offbeat.” Cobalt blue is splashed across every surface, punctuated with slashes of hot pink and stainless steel, taking style cues from fashion and graphics typical of the 1980s.
