I recently participated in an intense debate about a marketing campaign for Las Vegas locals with industry colleagues. As usual, those who have never lived in Las Vegas do not understand what it means to be a local. All they can visualize is the Strip, tourists, bachelor/bachelorette parties, debauchery, and … sin. What are your hobbies? I’m blessed with an amazing family. We call ourselves the “Brady Bunch.” When my wife, Julie, and I were married in 1998. our kids were 10, 10, 7, and 5. The photo at far right shows the beautiful transmitter building for WJDX/Jackson, MS, as it opened its doors in 1929. The person who kindly supplied this pic tells us that WJDX and WRBC switched frequencies, facilities, and transmitter sites in the 1950s, and this building had the WRBC studios built on to the front, obscuring the Art Deco facade (see above).
