Our panelists were given a series of 50 questions that touched on various aspects of the game. Their responses were tabulated by the editorial staff and compiled in the pages ahead. KENNY OMEGA’S QUEST for a rematch against IWGP champion Kazuchika Okada hit a roadblock when he suffered an upset loss to Tomohiro Ishii in the opening round of the 2017 New Japan Cup Tournament. The 10-day singleelimination tournament was won by Katsuyori Shibata, who took down Bad Luck Fale in the finals on March 20. Shibata also defeated Ishii, Juice Robinson, and Minoru Suzuki in tournament bouts. With the New Japan Cup victory, Shibata earned a title shot for either IWGP heavyweight, Intercontinental, or NEVER openweight title. Shibata wasted little time in making his decision and challenged Okada for the IWGP heavyweight title on April 9 at New Japan’s “Sakura Genesis” event.
