BTS have showcased Louis Vuitton’s autumn 2021 menswear collection in a new fashion film. The K-Pop septet – comprising Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook – chose from 34 new pieces from the luxury French fashion brand’s line to wear in the film by Korean director Jeon Go-woon. The Weeknd is set to star in, co-write and executive produce a new HBO series. The Save Your Tears hitmaker is teaming up with the creator of the television network’s hit series Euphoria’s Sam Levinson, on The Idol. Variety reports that this follows a pop star who “starts a romance with an enigmatic LA club owner who is the leader of a secret cult”. The 31-year-old singer wrote for and starred in animated comedy American Dad last year, while he made a cameo as himself in the Adam Sandler movie Uncut Gems. In Benedetta, which is competing for awards at the French film festival which ends this evening, Verhoeven depicts the lesbian relationship between two nuns in the 17th century, based on a true story unearthed by a historian. Played by Virginie Efira, Benedetta – whose mystical visions start to upset life within the cloistered walls as well as the church hierarchy – discovers the thrill and power of sex, and the women are shown naked in several scenes. “In general, people, when they have sex, they take their clothes off,” Verhoeven told a news conference after the film’s premiere…
Women outnumbered men on the Cannes Film Festival jury this year – but members including French actress Melanie Laurent said they dreamed of a time when female representation would no longer be newsworthy in the cinema industry. The world’s biggest movie festival, along with rival showcases in the likes of Venice, has long come under scrutiny over the low number of women directors in the running for top awards or in positions of influence. Five women were included on the nine-strong panel: Laurent, US actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, film directors Jessica Hausner and Mati Diop and singer Mylene Farmer. “My dream would be for this to be the first and last festival where there is a debate about women,” Laurent told a news conference on the French Riviera, flanked by jury…
