Judge slams wife’s high financial demands ZELDA VENTER zelda.venter@inl.co.za THE financial demands of a mother of two children on her estranged husband, which included R2600 a month for new clothes, did not sit well with a Mpumalanga High Court judge. The judge would have none of the applicant’s demands because she had a stable job and earned a decent income. When applicant’s lawyer argued that his client’s demand for R2600 a month for clothing was not unreasonable, the judge put her foot down. The applicant and her husband are divorcing but she, in the meantime, is demanding the bulk of his salary to maintain herself and their two children. Instead of walking out of court as free men after a marathon four-year trial, they will remain behind bars for now. The four received a blow in their prosecution on murder and attempted murder charges for the alleged assassination of billionaire businessman Wandile Bozwana, when the court turned down their applications to be cleared of all the charges. Her mother, Nomsa Mdunana, said Chinese undertakers informed the family this week that her remains should arrive in South Africa by June 3, but the date is tentative. The 24-year-old final-year engineering student allegedly fell through the window of a 13th-floor apartment in Hangzhou, China, while visiting a “friend” on April 30. Neither the family nor Kgothatso’s roommate, known as Princess, in Qingdao know the mystery friend she visited and have not been able to speak to the person since the tragedy. ‘ROAD OF DEATH’ 6 die after bus catches fire ZELDA VENTER zelda.venter@inl.co.za SIX passengers were killed and 57 escaped with multiple injuries after a bus caught fire on Moloto Road yesterday. Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said they were notified that there was a bus on fire on Moloto Road just before 2pm. Firefighters arrived on scene to find 14 patients and received reports that some had already been transported to hospital by private emergency medical services ambulances. Of the 14 patients, 11 suffered minor injuries, 2 sustained moderate injuries, while 1 female patient was airlifted to Milpark Hospital in a critical condition.
