Our March cover story about offshore Arctic oil drilling, "The Rig at the Edge of the World," elicited strong but differing reader responses. Curt Eisenhower of Ashburn, Va., saw how Shell's Kulluk rig would work as an example of "an impressive engineering marvel." At the same time, he questioned the virtue of "risking permanent damage to a delicate ecosystem for such a small reward." Others found the feature politically loaded.
