You wouldn’t guess from looking at Ryan Poli that he collects cookie jars. Truth be told, he never expected to collect them, either. The whole thing started last year when Ryan, the executive chef at the hip Nashville restaurant The Catbird Seat, was looking for a fun way to present dessert.
Cookie jars seemed like the perfect idea—“We don’t take ourselves too seriously,” Ryan says. He scoured eBay for antique versions shaped like animals, and during his hunt he found collectible jars modeled after pop culture characters from the 1970s and ’80s—Ernie from Sesame Street, the Pillsbury Doughboy.
