Tears streaming, I locked myself in my room. ‘What’s wrong, love?’ my mum, Lorna, asked worriedly.
I simply couldn’t tell her, or my dad, Andrew, that I was being bullied.
Most days, cruel taunts included ‘ugly’ or ‘four eyes’.
Sometimes, the girls attacked me.
One day, aged 14, I snapped.
Barricading my door, I refused to come out, having awful panic attacks.
Mum took me to the GP, where I finally broke down and told all.
Horrified, Mum found me a new school, arranged counselling sessions.
Slowly, I started to get back on track.
Interested in beauty therapy and hairdressing, I studied both hard, and passed my Maths and English GCSEs.
