The big buzzwords in today’s TV market are UHD and 4K. But what do they really mean? Compared with Full HD 1080p, which has 1080 vertical lines (pixels for still images), so-called ‘Ultra High Definition’ delivers twice as many at 2160. Naturally, the image is also twice as wide when it comes to pixel count, so you’re getting four times the overall resolution. The most common standard is 3840x2160 pixels, in a 16x9 aspect ratio widescreen format. Compared with a 1080p (1920x1080 pixels) screen, a 4K monitor upgrades the resolution from 2.07Mp (megapixels) to a massive 8.29Mp. 4K is great for viewing photos, as it has the potential to deliver unprecedented levels of sharpness and fine detail, more like photographic prints on paper. What to look for Canon EOS DSLRs Canon splits its EOS lineup into entry-level, enthusiast and professional ranges, and the fewer digits the more upmarket the camera; so the 1200D is the most basic, the 750D/760D for intermediates, while the 1D X is strictly for pros or those with deep pockets.
