ISO Sensitivity
THE ISO is the setting we use to change how sensitive the camera is to light. A low ISO value, such as ISO100, will be the least sensitive to light and require a longer exposure time, but will deliver the best image quality with low levels of digital noise. Increasing the ISO, to say ISO25,600, will make the sensor much more sensitive to light, in fact it will be eight times more sensitive to light than at than ISO100. This means bumping it up will allow you to shoot at faster shutter speeds so you can shoot handheld in poorly lit scenarios, but the trade-off is you’ll get an image with more noise and softer details.
