Every lens in this group features optical IS, which is great for shooting stills, especially towards the long end of zooms. However, there’s less of a benefit during movie capture. Help is at hand in some of Canon’s latest up-market cameras, in the shape of 5-axis ‘Movie digital IS.’ Available from the movie shooting menu, it works by cropping the area of the image sensor that’s used and shifting that area as necessary to offset any vibrations. It therefore enables a much more stable moving image.
