Most people automatically gravitate towards photographing portraits during the daytime. And natural daylight does produce stunning portraits. But shooting in the evening and at night can also produce some really atmospheric images – it’s just a case of knowing how to work in low light conditions. In this article I’ll run you through the tips and tricks you’ll need for evening portraiture. EQUIPMENT Night time portraiture needs a camera that works well in low light and has a decent megapixel count. A camera with a higher MP count will pick up more detail, which can be helpful in post production. Cameras that work well in low light will have less noise at higher ISO levels. As the pandemic continues, I get to explore and shoot more great places here in Germany. I was invited to film an episode of the amazing Garmisch-Partenkirchen and surrounding area this summer. There is an incredible amount of things you can do within a very small radius from the city. You can literally leave the city in any direction and find something amazing to see and to do. You can even take a train from the city center which brings you directly to the Zugspitze, the highest mountain peak in Germany. But don't take my word for it.
