The image was taken at Moraine Lake in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. I climbed up the moraine wall to get some altitude and a clear view of the lake. There were lots of tourists including the one in red who I thought added a point of interest and contrast to the image. ‘Although all of my work is done on the street, I could in no way be classed as a traditional street photographer.’ You have a very artistic approach to photography, but you’re making it work on a commercial level. If you read last issue's feature on printing, you'll know how your choice of printer influences the media you can print on and the control you have over the printing process. In this feature, we'll look at the different types of inkjet media and how to choose between them. Media Choices All inkjet media have coated surfaces that accept the ink. Coatings give papers certain qualities, such as flatness, surface texture and ink absorbency. The negative space challenge turned out to be rather popular with our Challengers and we were impressed with the standard of entries. As the old race call cliche goes, ‘they were so close, you could have thrown a blanket over ‘em’. In the end we gave the nod to Robert Zappia for his delicate yet forceful composition entitled ‘Smokestacks’. Snapping at his heels were Les Ryan’s look-closely-at-this picture called ‘Birdie Hole’, and Bevellee Bryceson for a macro study that captures its subject at exactly the perfect moment.
