It seems to me that the primary civilian purposes for a rifle are collecting, personal defense, target shooting and hunting. Few among us consider all four categories when acquiring a new rifle, and almost none of us have equal involvement in all four areas.
Collections of firearms take many forms. Some pursue modern guns, some go for antique, and there’s an infinite range of specialization: brand, origin, period, type. Collectible firearms don’t have to be rare, but “collection” implies organization. Therefore, I am very much not a collector. Rather, I’m an eclectic and unrepentant accumulator.
