Forgive me for complaining about this fortunate “predicament,” but the dining choices in our area are almost too amazing. In Palm Beach County’s landscape of independent restaurants, farm-to-table offerings and ever-changing menus, the decision of where to eat is a daily struggle. Just consider some of the popular options not far from my home, like Coolinary Café, Little Moir’s Food Shack and Talay Thai. In the Palm Beach area, everyone is buzzing about Avocado Grill, Buccan and Table 26. And in Boca Raton, 13 American Table, The Sybarite Pig and Kapow! Noodle Bar are popular favorites. Those of you like myself, who love preparing food almost as much as eating it, particularly appreciate the number of chefs starting their own restaurants around town—like Chef Roy Villacrusis, who this month embarks…
April is a delightful time to be in Palm Beach. The summer weather has not yet set in, but the frenetic pace of the season has slowed enough to let us enjoy the simple pleasures of living in this corner of paradise. And though our social calendars are a little lighter, there is still plenty to do around town. One of the happenings I’m most excited about this month is the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens’ “Return to the Roof of the World,” an exhibit of Nicholas Vreeland’s photography of Tibetan landscapes and Buddhist monks and pilgrims. It will open April 8 with a reception featuring the artist himself. That’s not so unusual, you might think; artists come here all the time to open their exhibits. But this is a special…

The event scene in West Palm Beach turns a new page this month with the inaugural Palm Beach Book Festival, a daylong affair for book lovers to meet and hear from top literati—and learn how to become one, too. Held April 11 at the Norton Museum of Art from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the festival consists of four panel discussions—covering topics such as women’s literature and the world of publishing—with novelists like Andrew Gross, Jacquelyn Mitchard and Lee Woodruff as well as local best-selling writer Scott Eyman, author and actor Alan Cumming and Vanity Fair critic James Wolcott. Following the panels, festivalgoers can commingle at the Colony Hotel in Palm Beach for a cocktail soiree that includes a Q&A with James Patterson moderated by Joe Klein of Time. Tickets…
Hollywood’s dirty laundry will be hung out to dry at the Kravis Center on April 24 when Kathy Griffin dishes on her latest celebrity run-ins, rumors and opinions. The filter-free comedienne rose to fame through her tell-all acts and her Bravo reality show, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, which aired from 2005 to 2010. Griffin’s biting sense of humor has earned her a Grammy as well as a role on E!’s Fashion Police, where she replaced the late Joan Rivers in January as a humorous critic of Hollywood style. The former D-lister spills to PBI some of her own secrets as a famous funny woman. (561-832-7469, kravis.org) Celebs on her best- and worstdressed lists: Trust me, it’ll change every Monday night [on Fashion Police]. People think I make…
