What an exciting month it has been for the sports-shooting community! The Frontier Shooting Range in Matlosana, North West, proudly hosted the 2025 IPSC Handgun World Shoot from 11 to 28 September, where 1 700 competitors representing 76 countries came together in a true celebration of skill, dedication, and sportsmanship. Congratulations to each and every competitor, the hardworking range staff, the IPSC management team, and the Frontier Company for delivering such an extraordinary event. The Peninsula Rifle Club (PRC) held the 2025 .22 Open Championships on Saturday 13 September at the Good Hope Military Range near Atlantis in the Western Cape. The match was a rimfire Bisley match shot under South African Bisley Union rules. There were two classes, F Class, shot off a bipod, rear bag with a scope, and Target Rifle (TR), shot supported only by the shooter and a sling, with open sights. All shooting was prone, at targets with a known distance. The centre of the target, referred to as the V-Bull, is about 1 MOA. The next ring is the 2 MOA 5 ring for rimfire. The framework agreement covers the period 2025 to 2031 and builds on successful cooperation that began in 2011. The Ministry of Defence has implemented several contracts in the past within this framework, thanks to which a complete transition of firearms in NATO-calibres has taken place. Under the new framework agreement, the Army will continue to purchase CZ BREN 2 rifles, CZ P-10 C pistols, and CZ GL underbarrel grenade launchers. The deliveries will also include extensive accessories, namely optoelectronic sights (day and night optics, laser sights), spare part kits, armorer kits, holsters, and cases. On 6 September 2025, we hosted the eleventh .22 LR ELR (Extreme Long Range) Send IT match at PEKS shooting range near Wellington, Western Cape, with a full house of 33 adults and 15 juniors competing. The first Send IT rimfire ELR event took place in 2020. From thereon, Send IT rimfire ELR events transformed into a family affair, with wives, girlfriends, and kids joining the festivities and outdoor entertainment. It has become a picnic with .22s! Range Set-Up & Match Format The course of fire was made up of three ranges, with targets set from 155 m to 423 m, and fitted with electronic hit indicators to confirm successful impacts. The sixth NAMPO Cape Expo concluded on a high note, drawing a recordbreaking 49 326 visitors to Bredasdorp Park from 10 to 13 September. The event has firmly established itself as a leading platform for agriculture in the Western Cape, bringing together producers, agribusinesses, policy makers and the wider community in an atmosphere that celebrated both innovation and tradition.
