In 2019 Noodhulp Koning van die Myl (King of the Mile) made its debut on the shooting calendar. It was a very humble beginning with mostly local competitors. The competition has always been extremely simple, as the person with the most hits wins. Shooters start with 21 rounds and have to progress by hitting two gongs (.5 MRAD square and round) at 630 m, 810 m, 1 120 m, and 1 240 m before being able to shoot at the mile. The Port Elizabeth Rifle & Pistol Club (PERPC) hosted its final Pistol League shoot for the year on 7 December, with 40 competitors. The match consisted of 115 rounds and seven stages, including a chronograph stage. The following stages proved to be the highlights: Stage 1 was a short course of nine rounds, with four IPSC targets and one IPSC popper. Competitors started the stage with heels touching ‘A’ or ‘B’ and firearm loaded. Upon the signal, competitors had to get onto a seesaw to engage two IPSC targets and a IPSC popper before moving to the opposite side of the seesaw to engage two IPSC targets to complete the stage.
