In 2019 Noodhulp Koning van die Myl (King of the Mile) made its debut on the shooting calendar. It was a very humble beginning with mostly local competitors. The competition has always been extremely simple, as the person with the most hits wins. Shooters start with 21 rounds and have to progress by hitting two gongs (.5 MRAD square and round) at 630 m, 810 m, 1 120 m, and 1 240 m before being able to shoot at the mile.
The spirit of making it welcoming to all, specifically beginners and women, was captured by insisting that shooters share information and limiting calibres to .30 maximum to ensure the recoil-sensitive people remained competitive.
