The US Precision Rifle Series (PRS) culminated in the PRS Finale held in the town of Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Despite sounding like a spa retreat, it most assuredly was not. Neither was this prairie town a thriving metropolis, with a population of only 1 700. However, it has some of the most generous inhabitants I have met in the US.
The town has a true Americana feel about it, given the red brick main street, small local shops, and a rich history of cattle ranching, oil, and indigenous cultures. Given that it was the first weekend in November, shooters were lucky that the weather was sunny with a 20°C high and crisp mornings.
