This extremely useful tool comes in handy when stalking for hours, whether for game or game birds. Allows you to fully rest your arms over the kilometres gained. Importantly, one can keep your weapon “on the ready” and still have it pointed in a “safe” direction at all times. See your prey move and you are instantly prepared. Our favourite feature, however, is when are stalking with beginners, it forces them to not point that rifle or shotgun at you! I had a symmetrical brake made by Steve Bezuidenhout that sorted out the accuracy issues and tamed the heavy recoil of that beast. Since then I have had quite a few rifles fitted with various muzzle brake designs, but have not experimented with barrel tuners at all. Being a bit of a traditionalist, I only have brakes fitted to the really hard kickers. The rest I shoot without brakes or silencers. Since shooting Precision Rifle (SAPRF) style shoots, I have definitely seen the advantages of shooting a rifle with a brake, and have been doing a lot of research into the various offerings out there. First impressions I was at home recovering from flu when the brake arrived from Gun Warrior. It was neatly bubble-wrapped, along with a small instruction booklet. Any gunsmith knows that to manufacture something to fit onto a barrel without having the actual rifle in their hands is a nightmare. This is due to different threads, imperfect threads, etc. It all contributes to the difficulty of making a perfect fit. I had assured Warren that my local gunsmith, Ludy Starke, does proper work, and had given him the thread specifications. The brake fitted perfectly onto my barrel! The brake uses a very simple method of timing its position onto the barrel in order to ensure that the ports are facing 90° sideways. A simple double thread with lock ring takes care…

James Purdey & Sons have announced the appointment of Annika Purdey to the Board of Directors. Annika is the seventh generation of the Purdey family to sit on the Board, and the first female Board member. Annika is a direct descendent of the founder of James Purdey & Sons; the great, great, great granddaughter of James the Founder and the eldest daughter of Richard Purdey, who was Chairman from 1997 to 2007. After 25 years on the board of Purdey, Richard Purdey is sadly retiring. Annika was born in Sweden and raised in Sussex. Her childhood years were influenced by a love of both the Scandinavian and British countryside and country sports in general.
