The stinking spectre of pay-to-win always circles new free-to-play shooters, and Warface hasn’t been without its share of accusers. But that was the PC edition; on PlayStation 4 it’s a fresh start.
“On console we have adjusted the monetisation to make everything available just by playing the game, so you can acquire items without paying for anything,” confirms Alexander Shimov, project manager at Allods Team, Moscow Development Studio. “But, of course, you can buy boosters and weapons, but you can also get everything without paying.”
If you do want to pay, you’ll be picking up skins and guns, boosters for experience points, and currency, as well as lootboxes, “but again, you can get all this by playing,” stresses Shimov. “It can all be acquired transparently.”
