They tend to be cashed up, active, invigorated and spend on big ticket items, yet marketers still seem to ignore baby boomers in favour of younger age groups.
Colmar Brunton executive director Chris Vaughan says they know many advertisers target 18-54 year olds, yet there is a significant group of people who are as attractive, if not more, as they are mortgage-free with disposable income.
A third of 50-70 year olds have an income of $100k or more, while nearly half of the boomers have an income of between $50k and $100k, research conducted by Colmar Brunton for News Works has revealed.
“Of those who are cash-rich, they talk about their plans for travel to Australia, Europe and the US,” he says.
