ALHADEFF opened The Future Perfect in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in 2003, turning it into the top showcase for that borough’s burgeoning design scene, which promoted a now ubiquitous brand of rustic-meets-industrial modernism. Six years later, with the store’s move to Great Jones Street in Manhattan’s NoHo neighborhood, came a shift in sensibility, one that is higher end and more avant-garde. Alhadeff has also begun to expand his empire, with stores in San Francisco and Los Angeles—the latter, called Casa Perfect, an appointment-only private residence. In each location, he continues to mentor and showcase new talent, launching the American careers of international and homegrown designers, like Christopher Stuart, featured here.
