The King has signed with the streaming giant to make a documentary about his charity, the King’s Trust, to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. His Majesty launched the organisation, then called the Prince’s Trust, back in 1976 with the $15,000 severance pay he received when he left the Navy. Established to support disadvantaged youth, it has helped more than a million young people transform their lives by providing practical and financial assistance. While there’s no doubt that Kiwis love playing netball – it remains the sport with the highest participation among secondary school students – the professional game faces an uncertain future. With a shortened ANZ Premiership season, there are some fears about whether New Zealand’s top talent can still build a career at home. I try to stay on top of the technical side of life, the smart phone, the laptop, emails, texts, Instagram, all that tricky sort of stuff. But it’s not always easy. It seems like only a matter of weeks ago that I was writing to you about all the people around me who are shrinking to shadows of their former selves. Some of them have been through bariatric surgery, another couple are using the fat jabs to bring about the weight loss, while two others share a tyrannical fitness coach.
