We went off to a party recently. It was one of those for older grownups, as the invitation indicated. After the usual “BYO”, it said, “4 till 8pm”. The sun was still up when we left. Whenever I hear anyone talking disparagingly of diversity, equity and inclusion [DEI], it reminds me of the time I spent in a war zone. It was East Timor in 2001. My comedy mates and I had been invited to entertain New Zealand’s Army and Air Force on military bases.
