It’s t usually a night of pomp, ceremony and red-carpet shimmying, but Hollywood is in for a solemn Oscars this year.
The Academy Awards, slated for March 2, have been overshadowed by the wildfires still devastating Los Angeles, with more than 10,000 homes burned to the ground.
The Academy has declared the event will be a sombre affair, largely paying tribute to Tinseltown’s emergency services – and showbiz insiders say it’s doubtful anyone will even throw a post-Oscars party.
The nominations have also caused a stir, with A-listers Angelina Jolie, 49, Pamela Anderson, 57, and Nicole Kidman, 57, all missing out despite predictions they were shoo-ins.
