Regular use of the ACC-funded app Nymbl is helping Kiwi seniors maintain their independence and quality of life through proactive health management. New Zealand’s population of over-65s is expected to double in the next 15 years. ACC says fractures and mobility issues in older patients is increasing, and warns that falls account for nearly 40 percent of ACC injury claims, especially impacting those over 65. But falls are not an inevitable part of ageing and preventing them with regular use of the Nymbl app is easy. It was the first week of December – a period when time starts speeding up and accelerating towards Christmas. I was driving to Auckland’s Sylvia Park Mall, about 35 minutes away from where I live. As all parents know, there comes a time in the adult-child relationship when roles become reversed – the enjoyment pendulum swings and things you used to find burdensome become precious and rewarding, while the child’s attitude goes from excitement to ennui.
