The King has admitted the cards he’s been sent since his cancer diagnosis was announced have left him quite emotional. The Monarch told British PM Rishi Sunak many of the messages had him in tears, although some did make him laugh, judging by a video posted on social media of His Majesty going through the correspondence and chuckling at funny cards. After their father’s sudden death when Aidan Woodward was only four, older brother Curtis dutifully stepped into a father-figure role and took his little brother under his wing. Hayley Holt was in her mid-thirties when she discovered she had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). At that stage in her life, the TV presenter had given up drinking alcohol – but was still having problems with her focus – and a therapist suggested she might have the disorder. A comedian, a sex therapist and a menopause expert walk into a bar. The bar is in a marquee in Mōtū, a tiny village in Tairāwhiti, an hour or so inland from Gisborne. There’s a small, intimate theatre in New York’s Broadway now called The Circle. The audience sits on three sides of the stage. I’ve always thought it must be wonderful to have worked on the Sky Tower. Whatever part of the process you were involved with, it must be great pointing to the iconic Auckland structure and telling your children or your grandchildren, “I helped build that.” The crew who are building the Central Interceptor must feel the same way, although this extraordinary piece of engineering won’t command the same attention as the Sky Tower – despite the fact it is, in my opinion, considerably more important than the Sky Tower.
