The health app on my cellphone had started sending me warnings that I was walking much further and burning many more kilojoules than previously, though I already knew that. Living in Los Angeles for three weeks without driving will do that to you. I have a soft spot for Forest & Bird – 100 years old this year. That’s Forest & Bird, not me! So many of our finest holidays have involved glorious times around native bush.
