Queen Camilla has been recognised for supporting organisations that help Kiwis. The King’s wife received New Zealand’s top honour in the King’s Birthday list, being made an Additional Member of The Order of New Zealand. The honour – awarded by the government and not her husband – was given to Camilla, 75, for helping to support the King’s relationship with New Zealand and promoting charities that benefit New Zealanders. On visits here in 2012, 2015 and 2019, Camilla has supported organisations including Wellington SPCA, the Battered Women’s Trust and Shine, which provides services for victims of domestic violence. A great chat with the queen of talk back For the first five years of my 50s, I was able to maintain a relatively healthy lifestyle. The year I turned 50, I don’t think I’d ever been in better shape. Royal update It’s taken eight years, but car-crash survivor Jack Beeton has finally had the chance to say thank you to one of the people who played a key role in saving his life – Prince William. The Prince of Wales flew Jack to hospital after the horrific crash in 2015, when the future king was working as an air ambulance pilot.
