Britain’s royals have taken the unprecedented step of standing up to toxic social-media trolls in the wake of nasty online comments being directed at family members, in particular Meghan and Kate.
Kensington Palace and Clarence House have announced guidelines for engaging with their channels, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and vowed that if the rules are broken, they will delete comments and block users. In extreme cases, they will report offenders to law-enforcement authorities.
A statement says, “We ask that anyone engaging with our social-media channels shows courtesy, kindness and respect for all other members of our social-media communities.”
Comments on their posts cannot “contain spam, be defamatory of any person, deceive others, be obscene, offensive, threatening, abusive, hateful, inflammatory or promote sexually explicit material or violence.” They also must…
