I’ve never been big on obeying rules, which probably explains my lack of success at school. The directive that we keep our fringes above our eyebrows and our skirts below our knees never really worked for me, whereas the landscaping rule of enclosure, for example, makes absolute sense. It’s all about what we think looks good.
