There are people in this world who can pick a few flowers and a handful or two of weeds, stuff them in a vase and create a work of art. I am not one of them. Whatever I stuff in a vase looks as if it’s been stuffed in a vase. No talent for floral design, then.

This is the best time of year for flowers in our garden. I’m not skiting, honestly, but we currently have calliandra, vireya, impatiens, gordonia, marigold, hibiscus, daisies, viburnum, gardenia, arum lilies, tractor plants, abelia, azalea and ixora all flowering their heads off. And in the cheerful-looking fruit department, lemons, limes, kumquats, tangelos and tamarillo.
So I’ve decided the time has come to take advantage of the bounty and learn…
