After a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Rhinestone Cowboy singer Glen Campbell, whose illustrious career spanned seven decades, died peacefully in Tennessee last week, aged 81.
“It is with the heaviest hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and legendary singer and guitarist Glen Travis Campbell, following his long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease,” his family said in a statement.
Celebrities flocked to social media to pay tribute to the singer and television host, who also had hits with By the Time I Get to Phoenix, Wichita Lineman and Southern Nights.
Kenny Rogers posted to Twitter, “So very sorry to hear this. Glen was such a talented, great guy. Thankful to have known him.”
