YOUNG AT HEART
When my daughter was young, she asked her dad how old he was. He cheekily said 21 and Mum is 18. She came home from school with a story she had written about family, saying, “My dad is 21, my mum is 18, my brother is 12 and I am 9.” The teacher wrote, “Well done, Mum and Dad.”

FLAT NOTE
While we watched TV, my husband wore his earphones and listened to his country and western tapes. He sometimes sang along, not realising we couldn’t hear our programme. “Stop singing, Dad,” our daughter shouted. His reply? “I’m not singing, I’m yodelling.” Well, he could’ve fooled us.
