It always surprises me that I can adamantly dislike something one year, then adore it the next. This applies to clothes, colours, music, cars, interior design and, of course, plants. While it’s disappointing to be so wishy-washy, it at least ensures variety in the house and garden.
Chop and change!
Waitangi Day came and went this year without me planting my usual token native to celebrate. At that time, there’d been no rain in the Far North for several weeks so planting anything was out of the question.
Sadly, it didn’t seem to stop me from buying plants, which were corralled by the vegetable garden, a location that ensured they’d get watered by the tap until nature got back on the case.
Amongst the collection were a few pseudopanax, leftovers…
